₹10 Lakh Health Scheme or Hidden Caps, Punjab Deserves Truth & Transparency Now- Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal Bhukhri Kalan
National BJP leader, Advocate Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal Bhukhri Kalan said that with utmost sincerity, responsibility and deep concern for the welfare of the people of Punjab, he seeks complete transparency and factual clarity regarding the much-publicised ₹10 lakh health insurance scheme announced by the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Ludhiana, February 21, 2026: National BJP leader, Advocate Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal Bhukhri Kalan said that with utmost sincerity, responsibility and deep concern for the welfare of the people of Punjab, he seeks complete transparency and factual clarity regarding the much-publicised ₹10 lakh health insurance scheme announced by the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Grewal wrote on his media platform X that healthcare is not merely a political promise but a sacred commitment to protect human life with dignity, compassion and honesty. He said that while the scheme has been projected as a historic and transformative welfare initiative promising comprehensive and cashless healthcare coverage up to ₹10 lakh per family, serious questions are emerging at the ground level about its actual implementation framework.
Grewal told that patients, hospitals and healthcare providers across Punjab are facing visible confusion regarding the operational structure of this scheme. He said that clarity is not a favour to the opposition but a fundamental right of every citizen who looks toward the government in moments of illness, pain and vulnerability. He respectfully urged Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to provide an immediate and transparent clarification so that the people of Punjab are not left in uncertainty during medical emergencies.
Grewal further said that he has also raised these important questions before Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh, seeking detailed answers in the public interest. He said that according to available information, the scheme reportedly covers around 2,356 ailments, each with a predefined package rate and an upper financial cap.
He said that if treatment costs exceed these fixed package limits, there is a serious possibility that beneficiaries may be compelled to pay the remaining amount from their own pockets. Grewal said that such a situation would dilute the very spirit of universal and cashless healthcare that the government has promised with pride and publicity.
Grewal told that the most pressing question remains whether the ₹10 lakh coverage is truly a cumulative annual limit per family or whether it is effectively restricted by package-wise ceilings for individual treatments. He said that if each treatment has a financial cap, then the promise of ₹10 lakh coverage must be explained with complete honesty so that there is no gap between announcement and reality.
Grewal said that he also seeks clarity on whether patients will be required to make out-of-pocket payments if hospital charges surpass the prescribed package rates. He said that no family battling illness should face additional financial shock due to technical limitations hidden within policy documents.
He said that this request for clarification is not driven by politics but by humanity. He said that the government must clearly communicate all terms, conditions, financial caps and operational mechanisms of the scheme so that patients and their families can make informed decisions during critical moments.
Grewal said that Punjab’s people deserve transparency, accountability and truth. He respectfully appealed to the Bhagwant Mann government to address these concerns publicly and without delay, so that in times of suffering and medical distress, families receive not confusion but confidence, not uncertainty but assurance, and not promises alone but real and dependable relief.
