Under the joint auspices of the Department of Sanskrit, Panjab University, Chandigarh, and Sanskrit Bharati, Patiala, Punjab, a 10 day Sanskrit Workshop on Sanskrit Speaking and Learning is being organised in the premises of the Sanskrit Department. Ms. Rajni Devi will act as Resource Person for this workshop.

10 day Workshop on Sanskrit Speaking and Learning

Chandigarh, September 9, 2025: Under the joint auspices of the Department of Sanskrit, Panjab University, Chandigarh, and Sanskrit Bharati, Patiala, Punjab, a 10 day Sanskrit Workshop on Sanskrit Speaking and Learning is being organised in the premises of the Sanskrit Department. Ms. Rajni Devi will act as Resource Person for this workshop.

The program commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp. On the first day of the inaugural session, the Chief Guest, Shri Narendra, Organizational Minister of Sanskrit Bharati (North Region), graced the occasion with his esteemed presence. In his inspiring address, he highlighted the glorious past of the Sanskrit language and explained with great clarity and simplicity its relevance and necessity in the present era.

Chairperson, Dr. Sunita Devi formally welcomed all the guests and participants. She said that it is our responsibility to promote the Sanskrit language. It is only because of Sanskrit language that we have values and our culture is safe. The program was conducted by Dr. Tomeer Sharma, faculty member of the department. 

On this occasion, the senior professor of the department, Prof. Virendra Kumar Alankar, also addressed the gathering. He stated that the world’s first poetry, story, drama, and dramaturgy were composed in Sanskrit. He further emphasised that the main objective of this workshop is to promote the practical usage of the Sanskrit language in society, to awaken interest among the youth, and to contribute to the preservation and enrichment of Indian culture.
On this occasion, students of Sanatan Dharma Sanskrit College, Sector-23, Professors from various departments of the University, along with numerous Sanskrit enthusiasts, students, teachers, and social workers were present.

This workshop will not be confined to the teaching of Sanskrit alone, but will serve as a significant step towards establishing Sanskrit as a living, spoken language of daily communication.
