Rohtak, September 7, 2026: Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak (UHSR) is making continuous efforts to take quality healthcare and specialist medical services to rural areas, Vice-Chancellor Dr H.K. Aggarwal said.
Dr Aggarwal described multi-specialty health camps as an effective way of bringing expert healthcare closer to villagers. He appreciated the university’s initiative to organise a health camp at Karauntha village and said UHSR remained committed to extending better medical facilities to people in rural areas.
The camp, organised under the leadership of Dr Manjunath B.C., Head of the Department of Public Health Dentistry, PGIDS, Rohtak, with the support of a specialised mobile dental van, witnessed the examination of 102 villagers. Free medical check-ups, medicines, treatment and health counselling were provided to all participants.
A significant number of skin-related ailments were detected during the camp. Specialists reported cases of fungal infections, dermatitis and melasma. General health screening found fever in around 25 per cent of those examined, knee and joint pain in 50 per cent, and high blood pressure in nearly 30 per cent. Anaemia was detected in about 20 per cent of women. Patients were provided necessary medicines and advised to undergo follow-up consultations.
Dental screening revealed that nearly 80 per cent of patients required scaling, while around 50 per cent needed dental fillings or tooth extraction. Free treatment was provided on the spot through the mobile dental van. Villagers were also educated about proper brushing techniques and maintaining oral hygiene.
The camp was supported by PGIMS specialists, including Senior Resident Dr Kalpana Sangwan, Community Medicine specialist Dr Palak, Dr Abhishek and Dr Gurleen Kaur, PHC Karauntha Medical Officer Dr Preeti, Dental Surgeon Dr Shreya and their team. ASHA workers and village Sarpanch Arvin also extended their support in organising the camp.
