‘Aarohan Social Innovation Awards’ announced
Chandigarh, November 12, 2018: Even as social innovators and entrepreneurs in India are driving massive societal change, especially in rural areas, Infosys Foundation has today announced ‘Aarohan Social Innovation Awards’ to give social innovation in India a boost. The awards aim to recognize unique innovations by individuals, teams or NGOs - innovations that have the potential to positively impact the underprivileged in India and give them the scalability they deserve. A panel of distinguished judges will evaluate and select winners on the basis of – application to real world problems, innovative use of technology, idea originality and ease of use. The Foundation will provide up to INR 1.5 crore to the winners, along with an opportunity for residential technical mentorship at IIT Hyderabad for up to 12 weeks. The application window to invite social innovators to participate in the awards will be open until December 31, 2018. Infosys Foundation invites entries from adults (above 18 years) residing in India and the awards will accept submissions across six categories; healthcare, rural development, destitute care, women’s safety & empowerment, education & sports and sustainability. The participants can submit entries in the form of videos by uploading them on the Aarohan Social Innovation Awards website. Through these awards, Infosys Foundation intends to deliver equality and profitability at the grassroots level for all those innovations that happen outside labs in the hinterland of India; and all innovators are welcome.
