‘Nutrition week’ celebrated at Ivy Hospital
Mohali, September 15: “World Nutrition Week” was celebrated by Dietetics Department , IVY Hospital, Mohali today. The main focus of the “World Nutrition Week” is to highlight the importance of nutrition and encourage the people on healthy eating habits to combat the lifestyle diseases which are crippling our society. On the occasion, various activities including a display on therapeutic recipes , kitchen feeds and free diet consultation were held . The speakers while addressing a talk on balanced diet said that while breakfast is given the reputation of being the most important meal of the day, eating lunch is just as essential to staying healthy. Going too long without food denies your body glucose, the sugar that supplies your brain with energy. Skipping lunch also slows down your metabolism, leads to overeating and makes it difficult to meet your nutrient needs for the day, speakers maintained. Among others , Dr. Kanwaldeep, Medical Director, Ivy Group of Hospitals, Dr. Japneet Singh, consultant-radiologist), Dr. Ashutosh Sood,GMO and Dr. R.K. Suri, MS were also presented.
