Zirakpur, April 28, 2016: The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister, S.Sukhbir Singh Badal today announced to develop Zirakpur into a model city with all the modern amenities. He declared that Rs.100 crore would be spent on strengthening of infrastructure in the city in coming 4 months. He was interacting with media persons on the eve of conducting review of roads & parks of various colonies of the city along with Chief Parliamentary Secretary Industries & Commerce Mr.N.K.Sharma.
The Deputy Chief Minister elaborated that Zirakpur is the gateway to Punjab and so it merits the establishing of new parks along with widening and strengthening of road infrastructure. He also said that his main motive behind paying a visit to the city is to get a first hand assessment of the situation so as to explore ways and formulate strategies to change its look and carry out beautification projects.
He also disclosed that all the colonies falling under the city would be developed to the maximum level and people would be provided with amenities of sewerage, clean drinking water, street lights and also no dearth of funds would be allowed to hamper the project of giving city a unique look. He also announced that all electricity wires in the city would be laid underground for which he gave necessary instructions on the spot to the officers of Punjab State Power Corporation. The Deputy Chief Minister conducted an inspection of Bhabhat, Baltana, Dhakauli Road, Saini Vihar Phase-3 & 1, Roads adjoining Panchkula, Park Road, Peer Muchhalla, Naglan Road, V.I.P. Road and other roads.
Among others present on the occasion were Advisor to Deputy Chief Minister, S. Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Additional Principal Secretary Bhai Sukhdeep Singh Sidhu, Special Principal Secretary to Deputy Chief Minister and Secretary Department of Information and Public Relations Punjab Mr. Rahul Tewari, DIG Rupnagar S. Gursharan Singh Sandhu, OSD to Deputy Chief Minister, S. Charanjit Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner Mr. D.S. Mangat, SSP Mohali S. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, President Municipal Council Zirakpur S. Kulwinder Singh Sohi and officials of Local Bodies, Public Works department and Punjab State Power Corporation Limited.
