Safety Bunny, the mascot of ZF’s road safety awareness campaign and Mr. Suresh KV, Head of ZF India Pvt. Ltd. celebrate the success of more than 20,000 educted children.

New Delhi, November 22, 2019. At the Safe Roads India Summit 2019, ZF presented the results of its Safety Bunny campaign aiming at the education on children in terms of safe behaviour in daily road traffic. The campaign, now running in its second year, has reached so far more than 20 schools, and has impacted more than 20,000 children across Pune, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Chennai and Delhi.

India, the land of opportunities, is all set to become the world's third-largest passenger vehicle market. It is also to be noted that India unfortunately has a huge number of fatalities due to road accidents. Statistics indicate that this is around 149,000 per year of which nearly 8% are young children below the age of 14. Based on the above, it is logical that the need of the hour is to reduce the alarming number of road accidents. The Indian Government aims to reduce the number of road accidents to half by the year 2020.One of the methods is to increase awareness about road safety and ZF’s endeavour is to address the same through children, by catching them young.

India is home to the world's largest youth population with more than 27% being children below 14 years of age. Children are the future of this country and to ensure that they are well protected, secure, and responsible, ZF took up on itself to run a nationwide Road-Safety Awareness campaign across schools in India. The campaign mascot called “Safety Bunny” is hopping from city to city and teaching children between 5-10 years of age about traffic rules and Road Safety. The Safety Bunny initiative mixes learning experiences with fun and has interactive sessions, live demos, special study materials and exciting games to make sure that these future road-safety warriors are well equipped with knowledge.

Suresh KV, Head of ZF India Pvt. Ltd. said: “With the clear target to bolster the efforts on improving safety and to create a bright future with zero accidents amidst the changing landscape of the automotive world, we at ZF, are leveraging our leadership in driveline and chassis technology as well as active and passive safety technologies to bring a lot of innovative vehicle safety solutions into the Indian Market. While technology will do its part in ensuring road safety, our responsibility also extends in changing the casual mindsets of motorists towards traffic safety rules and practices. We believe if we start at a tender age and teach children about the right road practices, this will heavily contribute to a world with zero accidents that we are targeting for our future."

ZF is proudly committed to constantly making Indian roads safer in the times to come. Safety Bunny isn't just a campaign, it's an effort to fuel the ever-evolving story of India's development and to ensure that these stalwarts of tomorrow become India's Safety Ambassadors.
