Kochi, July 30, 2022: Zee Keralam, the popular entertainment television channel, has honoured the exemplary services of the Kerala Home Guards by providing them with rain coats.

The Zee Keralam gesture was an effort to salute and honour the services that the Kerala Home Guards have been rendering to the society. A voluntary force that serves as an auxiliary force to the Kerala Police and Kerala Fire Force, the Kerala Home Guards has, in its force, mostly retired service men. Deployed for traffic control on the city, their services come in handy for commuters and vehicle owners to maintain discipline on the roads.

At an event organised at the Zee Keralam office here recently, Santosh J Nair, Chief Channel Officer, Zee Keralam, handed over as many as 900 rain coats to the Kerala Home Guard. Lakshmanan Pillai, State Executive Member; P Manikandan, President of Ernakulam District Committee, and other delegates of Kerala Home Guard Association, received the raincoats.

It was in 1960 that the inception of Home Guards happened as per the directive of the then Chief Minister Pattam Thanu Pillai.
