Chandigarh / Sri Anandpur Sahib, March 10, 2023: The 30-member Yuva Sangam Manipur student contingent, which is on a week-long educational and cultural exposure visit to Punjab (scheduled from March 6–12, 2023), managed by the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB), learnt about the Punjabi culture during their visit to famous places Patiala, Chandigarh and Sri Anandpur Sahib on the fourth and fifth day of their exposure visit to Punjab.

Yuva Sangam, an initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, is mooted with an aim to strengthen people to people connect and build empathy between the youth of the north-eastern states and the rest of India.

The Manipur delegates arrived in Punjab on Monday evening. On arrival at the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB), the delegates received a warm welcome from Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, Vice-Chancellor, CUPB. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Manipur contingent visited Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib, Talwandi Sabo, National Martyrs Memorial Hussainiwala and got exposed to the culture of Punjab during a special cultural programme and Holi celebrations organised by the Central University of Punjab.

On Thursday, the Manipur student delegates led by CUPB officials were mesmerised to see the facilities of Asia’s largest sports institute, ‘Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports (NSNIS), Patiala’. The delegates got an opportunity to meet famous discuss throw player Shri Shakti Singh, Arjun Awardee. The Manipur delegates were further fascinated to see the Rock Garden, Chandigarh, which gives the feeling of entering a small traditional Indian village representing beautifully carved huts, temples, pathways, etc. The Manipur student delegates also visited All India Radio Akashvani Chandigarh Centre, where they got an opportunity to share their experience of trip with Shri Sanjeev Dosanjh, Director of Programmes, in a recorded programme.

On Friday, the Manipur delegates visited Virasat-e-Khalsa at Anandpur Sahib, Punjab where they were enlightened with life philosophy and eternal message of 10 Sikh Gurus, their message of peace and brotherhood. They were delighted to enhance their knowledge about the glorious history of Sikh religion, art and the rich culture and heritage of Punjab.

The entire tour of these delegates has been planned, and the itinerary has been designed to provide them with multi-dimensional exposure of Paryatan (Tourism), Parampara (Traditions), Pragati (Development), Prodyogik (Technology) and Paraspar Sampark (People-to-people connect).

The Central University of Punjab, a nodal centre for the Punjab region under the Yuva Sangam Programme, is making hospitality arrangements and providing support for the smooth execution of the exposure trip in coordination with other government departments. Manipur delegates week-long exposure visit to Punjab will conclude at Amritsar.
