Yudh Nashya Virudh- 10,000 drug traffickers arrested, 8,500 key players of trade
Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond announced on Sunday that the Punjab Police have arrested 10,000 drug peddlers, including 8,500 major traffickers, since the launch of the Yudh Nashya Virudh campaign.

Khanna (Ludhiana), May 18, 2025: Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond announced on Sunday that the Punjab Police have arrested 10,000 drug peddlers, including 8,500 major traffickers, since the launch of the Yudh Nashya Virudh campaign.
Addressing vibrant Nasha Mukti Yatra awareness events in Kot Sekhon, Kot Panech, and Bija, Sond unveiled plans to harness the energy of Punjab’s youth by constructing a stadium in every village and establishing 3,000 gyms across 3,000 villages to promote sports and healthy lifestyles.
Sond declared that Punjab is on track to become a drug-free state, with the anti-drug campaign now reaching grassroots levels. “The state government is relentlessly working to eradicate drugs, but we need the wholehearted support of every citizen,” he urged. He called on residents to report drug traffickers, assuring that informants’ identities will remain protected. Additionally, he encouraged reporting individuals struggling with addiction, emphasizing that the Punjab government will provide free de-addiction treatment and comprehensive medical care.
The Cabinet Minister stressed that the Nasha Mukti Yatra will extend to every street in Punjab, galvanizing communities to join the fight for a drug-free state.
During these events, Sond administered a solemn oath to villagers, including panchs, sarpanchs, and defense committee members, to serve as guardians of their communities and uproot the drug menace.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate Dr. Baljinder Singh Dhillon, Coordinator of Nasha Mukti Morcha Parampreet Singh and senior officials from the police, panchayat, health, members of village defense committees, panchs, sarpanchs, and a large number of villagers were also present.
