Youth Joining BJP Gives Major Boost to Party in Punjab

Mohali, August 16, 2026: In a major boost to the Bharatiya Janata Party in Punjab, a large number of youths joined the party during an induction ceremony organised by Mohit Jand at Mullanpur in Mohali today.

Welcoming the new entrants into the party, Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon said the youth had made the right choice for a bright and prosperous future for Punjab. Stressing that young people are the driving force of any country or state, Dhillon said, “Punjab’s youth possess immense energy, determination and hard work, but their potential needs the right direction and opportunities.”

Targeting the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, Dhillon alleged that its promise to eradicate drug abuse within three months had proved hollow.

“Drugs and unemployment have severely affected our youth and left them deeply concerned about their future. Punjab needs a government that can provide direction, opportunities and a secure future to its young people,” he said.

Dhillon further alleged that the state government lacked a clear policy for creating employment opportunities in both the public and private sectors and was instead relying heavily on publicity and advertisements.

He claimed that industries were shifting their base out of Punjab and cited neighbouring Haryana as an example. He said a single industrial and corporate hub such as Gurugram was creating employment opportunities for lakhs of young people and contributing significantly to the state’s economy.

Expressing concern over the law and order situation, gangsterism and issues concerning agriculture and Minimum Support Price (MSP), Dhillon also criticised the AAP government’s claims of an “Education and Health Revolution”.

“More than 31,000 teaching posts in schools and colleges, along with around 2,400 professor posts, remain vacant. The promise of setting up 16 medical colleges remains largely on paper, while the state’s debt has increased from ₹2.82 lakh crore to ₹4.5 lakh crore,” he claimed.

Underlining the importance of the youth in the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections, Dhillon said a “double-engine” BJP government was essential to address the state’s major challenges.

“Our goal is not merely to win elections. Our aim is to build a prosperous, drug-free Punjab with better employment opportunities and a secure future for its youth,” he said.

Dhillon assured the newly inducted members that they would be given due respect, responsibilities and opportunities to contribute to strengthening the party at the grassroots level.

Prominent leaders present on the occasion included Rajya Sabha MP Satnam Singh Sandhu, Punjab BJP Vice Presidents Subhash Sharma and Ranjit Singh Gill, senior leader Fatehjang Singh Bajwa, Mohali District President Sanjeev Vashisht and N.K. Verma, besides a large gathering of party workers and supporters.
