Dharamshala, April 30, 2019: Six young Grapplers of under 19 age group from Himachal , who were selected to participate in the next World Grappling Championship to be held in the Kazakh city of Astana in September 2019, are striving for funds to participate in this. Sanjay Sharma ,a social worker of Himachal noticed these sports children requesting the shopkeepers of Nurpur area in Kangra district for financial help to buy their practice mats,so that they can prepare for upcoming world championship. Sharma brought these athletes to the press in Dharamshala to reveal the apathy of sports in the state. Sanjay said, “If we provide practice mats for the preparation of the coming event ,from where these selected athletes can gather money to go to Kazakhstan in September.”
Priyanka and Rima have won gold Medals in their age groups in the recently held South East Asian Championship in Bhutan, while Arjun, Abhilash, Kajal and Drishti are the national champions.
Rima said,” our coach in Himachal is training us without charging a single penny , but lack of equipments hampers our aim. If supported we are sure to bring world medals for the nation.
