Chandigarh, April 14, 2022: YONO SBI All India Open Masters’ Badminton Tournament, 2022 commenced today at Sector 38 Sports Complex. The 4 days tournament was inaugurated by Tej Deep Singh Saini, Director sports, Chandigarh (U.T.) in the august presence of Sanjay Kumar, DGM, SBI, Mohd. Mauviz, MD, SEGA Shoes and Chotu Sharma, MD, CS Soft Solutions. 

The tournament is being organized by the Chandigarh Shuttlers Badminton Club under the aegis of Chandigarh Badminton Association and carries a cash prize of Rs. 8 lacs, said Deepak Saxena, Organising member of the tournament. As per Col. Raj Parmar, Chairman (Tournament), approx. 600 players from all over the country, including Abhin Shyam Gupta, former National Champion and an Olympian are participating in this tournament in various age groups.

In a Special Ceremony Surinder Mahajan Hony. Gen. Secretary, CBA, was honoured by Rajneesh Bhatia, Akash Sethi, Paras Gupta and other members of the Chandigarh Shuttlers Badminton Club by presenting a glittering memento and shawl, for the rare honour of being elected as the Joint Secretary of the Badminton Association of India.

The results of the matches played today:
•    Mens Singles 35 Prince Sharma  beat Manpreet Singh 21-10 , 22-20 ,  Nitin Mehra beat Mohd Munir 17-21 , 21-17, 21-15, Yogesh Chuhan beat Pankaj Malik 21-18 , 21-18 in a thriller.
•    In Womens 35+ category Nalini Malik beat Isha Gupta 21-4,21-5  , Priyanka Parmar beat Salochna 21-14,21-14.
•    In Mens  40+ category Olympian Abhinn Shyam had an easy win against Manish Chaudhary and won 21-11 , 21-5 . Rudra kaushik beat Abhishek Chauhan 21-18,21-12 , Harsh Rawat beat Deep Chandra 21-18 , 21-13.
