“Yoga Keeps Me Physically Fit and Mentally Calm”: Thodi Si Umeed Thoda Sa Aasman Actress Aarti Birajdar on International Yoga Day
In a world where most people are constantly rushing from one task to another, finding a few moments of peace has become more important than ever. While many turn to different fitness routines to stay healthy, yoga continues to be a timeless practice that nurtures both the body and the mind. On the occasion of International Yoga Day, actress Aarti Birajdar, who will soon be seen playing Vaidehi in Sun Neo's upcoming show Thodi Si Umeed Thoda Sa Aasman, shared how yoga has positively influenced her life and why she believes it is much more than just a fitness trend.
Speaking about the importance of yoga, Aarti says, “For me, yoga is not just a trend or a fitness fad; it is a precious gift from our ancient tradition. In today's fast-paced lifestyle, changing weather conditions, pollution, and increasing dependence on technology, both physical and mental health are often affected. Yoga helps me stay physically fit, mentally calm, and emotionally balanced. However, the benefits of yoga come only with regular practice. Like any good habit, it takes time and consistency to show results. I believe everyone should take out a little time every day and make yoga a part of their daily routine.”
Sharing details about her daily yoga routine, she says, “I regularly practice Surya Namaskar. If time and energy permit, doing 50 to 100 rounds is great, but because of my busy shooting schedule, I usually manage around 25 rounds. Along with that, I practice asanas such as Paschimottanasana, Dhanurasana, Sarvangasana, Chakrasana, Matsyasana, Vajrasana, and Padmasana. Among all of them, Shavasana gives me the most peace and relaxation.”
She further adds, “During my college days, I was even more regular with my yoga practice. I strongly believe that good sleep, nutritious food, yoga, and pranayama are essential for a healthy life. I also practice Anulom Vilom, Kapalbhati, Omkar chanting, and Bhramari, which help keep my mind calm and my body healthy. In today's world, staying physically active is very important. Whether it is yoga, gym workouts, or any other form of exercise, the key is to make time for your health and stay consistent.”
When asked whether yoga or gym workouts are more effective, Aarti shares, “According to me, consistency is the most important factor because the real benefits of any healthy habit come only through regular practice. Gym workouts help build physical strength, while yoga improves mental strength, balance, flexibility, and inner peace. If we combine yoga and gym workouts with nutritious food, proper sleep, and regular Surya Namaskar, we can avoid many health problems. Good health is not achieved in a day; it comes from making healthy choices consistently over time. That is why I believe yoga should not be seen as just a trend but as an important lifestyle practice for a healthy and balanced life.”
