World Pharmacist Day Celebrated at Panjab University

The Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) Punjab Branch, in collaboration with the University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS) and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Panjab University (PU), today celebrated World Pharmacist Day at the Golden Jubilee Hall, Panjab University. The day-long event (9:30 AM – 4:30 PM) drew enthusiastic participation from students, researchers, and professionals across Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh.

Chandigarh, September 25, 2025: The Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) Punjab Branch, in collaboration with the University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS) and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Panjab University (PU), today celebrated World Pharmacist Day at the Golden Jubilee Hall, Panjab University. The day-long event (9:30 AM – 4:30 PM) drew enthusiastic participation from students, researchers, and professionals across Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh.

The inaugural function was graced by Dr. Manish Kapoor, State Drugs Controller, Himachal Pradesh, as the Chief Guest. In his inaugural address, Dr. Kapoor urged young pharmacy professionals to embrace entrepreneurship coupled with ethical practices to advance the profession.

Prof. Pramil Tiwari, NIPER Mohali, as Guest of Honour, highlighted the importance of being vigilant about drug usage and storage practices. Meanwhile, Dr. Rupinder Kaur, Chief Medical Officer, PU, in her keynote lecture, shared valuable insights on lifestyle management for sustainable health. Adding to the industry perspective, Mrs. Vaishali Aggarwal, Director, Scott-Edil Pharma Ltd., addressed the gathering on emerging opportunities in the pharmaceutical sector during her Valedictory Address in the afternoon.

The event also featured a Presidential Address by Prof. Bhupinder Singh Bhoop, President IPA (Punjab Branch), who shared the background and significance of celebrating this World Pharmacist Day across over 156 countries. The Welcome Address was delivered by Prof. Ranju Bansal, Chairperson, UIPS, while Prof. Kanwaljit Chopra (UIPS) served as the overall Convener of the programme. Dr. Girdhari Lal Singal, Ex-State Drugs Controller, Haryana, delivered the Vote of Thanks.

The highlight of the celebrations was witnessing active participation from nearly 150 delegates, including 73 student presenters in the poster competition held on this year’s World Pharmacist Day theme. Several participants were awarded attractive cash prizes for their innovative contributions.

The celebration successfully combined academic, professional, and industrial perspectives, underscoring the evolving role of pharmacists in healthcare and society.
