World Ozone Day Observed in Dharamshala with Awareness Drive

 The Hotel and Restaurant Association, Smart City Dharamshala, in collaboration with the Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board, organised an awareness programme to mark the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer on Monday at Hotel Bhagsu (HPTDC), McLeodganj.

Dharamshala, Sep 15, 2025: The Hotel and Restaurant Association, Smart City Dharamshala, in collaboration with the Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board, organised an awareness programme to mark the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer on Monday at Hotel Bhagsu (HPTDC), McLeodganj.

The event was attended by over 30 members of the association and was graced by Vinay Dhiman, DTDO Kangra, as the special guest. Association office bearers, including President Rahul Dhiman, General Secretary Sanjeev Gandhi, Senior Vice President Ashok Pathania and Treasurer Rashpal Pathania, were also present.

Experts Er. Varun Gupta and Er. Rajat from the State Pollution Control Board, along with Dr. Amrik Singh from the Central University of Himachal Pradesh, delivered presentations on the significance of the ozone layer, threats posed by its depletion, and sustainable practices the hospitality sector can adopt.

Participants were sensitised on environmental laws related to air, water and noise pollution, as well as the management of hazardous, biomedical, solid and e-waste. Energy conservation in hotels and the promotion of eco- and adventure tourism in a sustainable manner were also emphasised.

An interactive session allowed hoteliers to seek practical guidance on compliance and environmental protection. The programme concluded with participants taking a pledge to adopt eco-friendly practices and contribute towards safeguarding the ozone layer.
