World ORS Day Observed by Department of Paediatrics
The Department of Paediatrics, DMC&H observed World ORS Day today with the theme “ORS – A Simple Solution for a Healthier Future”, by conducting an awareness session in the OPD Block for the general public for the emphasizing the life-saving benefits of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) in preventing dehydration, especially in children.

Ludhiana, July 29,2025: The Department of Paediatrics, DMC&H observed World ORS Day today with the theme “ORS – A Simple Solution for a Healthier Future”, by conducting an awareness session in the OPD Block for the general public for the emphasizing the life-saving benefits of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) in preventing dehydration, especially in children.
A skit was also performed by the resident doctors to highlight the critical importance of timely ORS administration during episodes of diarrhea.
The event was graced by faculty members, including Dr. Sandeep Kaushal, Dean Academics, DMC&H; Dr. Puneet A. Pooni, Head of the Department of Pediatrics; Dr. Deepak Bhat, Professor; Dr. G.S. Dhooria, Professor; Dr. Kamaldeep Arora,Professor; Dr Sidharth Bhargava; Dr Karambir Gill Assistant Professor; Dr Gurpreet Singh , Assistant Professor ; Dr Sumati verma, Assistant Professor and others staff members from the pediatric team.
Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, said, DMC&H is committed to provide quality healthcare to the people of this region. Such health days play a vital role in educating the public and promoting healthier lifestyles across all age groups.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sandeep Kaushal state that ORS is a proven, low-cost, and effective intervention that has saved millions of lives globally. Awareness at the grassroots level is crucial to reduce preventable child deaths.
Dr. Puneet A. Pooni, HOD Pediatrics, added, “Even today, dehydration from diarrhea remains one of the major killers of children under five. Promoting ORS usage is not just a medical duty but a social responsibility.”
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony and a token of appreciation presented to the participants. This was followed by an interactive session where attendees were educated on the correct preparation and effective home use of ORS.
