World Heart Day : Chandigarh to Mohali Bikeathon Spreads Message on Heart Safety, Clean Surroundings

Chandigarh, September 28, 2025 : In a powerful blend of fitness, community spirit and public health awareness, Shalby Multispeciality Hospital, in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh and The Thumpers Café, hosted a World Heart Day Bikeathon that saw over 300 motorcycle riders from across the Tricity come together to champion heart health and cleanliness.

The morning began at the Municipal Corporation Office, Chandigarh, with a spirited Nukkad Natak spreading the message of the Swachh Bharat Mission and inspiring citizens to keep their surroundings clean. The rally was flagged off by Dr Inderdeep Kaur, Medical Officer of Health, Chandigarh, as riders throttled their engines to spread the call for an active, heart-healthy lifestyle.

On reaching Shalby Hospital Mohali, participants joined an interactive emergency preparedness session led by Dr Lovel Gupta, Head – Emergency & Trauma Services, who shared vital tips on responding swiftly and effectively during cardiac or other medical emergencies.

Dr Arvind Kaul, Director – Cardiac Sciences, Shalby Mohali, said: “Heart health begins with simple lifestyle choices. Rides like this remind us to stay active and seek timely care to prevent heart disease.”

Dr Honey Sharma, Senior Consultant – Interventional Cardiology, added: “Many young people face preventable heart problems. Awareness and proactive check-ups can save lives.”

Gladwin Sandeep Nayyar, Chief Administrative Officer, noted: “This Bikeathon seamlessly brought together heart health, fitness and the vision of a cleaner city — a movement powered by community spirit.”
