World Hearing Day observed at DMCH

Ludhiana, March 3, 2022:  3rd of March is Global Hearing Day. To observe this day Department of ENT (Ear Nose Throat & Neck), DMCH conducted a special training session on ‘Hearing’ for the MBBS students. The theme for World Hearing Day in 2022 is “To hear for life, listen with care.” The main purpose of this day is to promote ear and hearing care among general public.

This training session consist of various hearing techniques for all age group. Hearing assessment using simple outpatient clinical procedures as well as latest Audiometry Screening and Interpretation was demonstration during the session.
In his message, Prem Kumar Gupta, Secretary DMCH Managing Society said that Department of ENT at DMCH has state of the art facilities and provides the highest level of hearing care facilities.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Manish Munjal, Professor & Head Department of ENT highlighted ear and caring tips:
•       To avoid taking medicine without prescription during pregnancy as this effects hearing of the new born.
•       Avoid exposure to loud noises that like DJ, blasting crackers in closed rooms and near to senior citizen.
•       Avoid self ear cleaning by untrained personal as chances of ear perforation (tear of the tissue)
•       Avoid self installation of ear drops as this promotes the growth of fungie as well as cause the weakness of hearing apparatus.
•       Inattentive children and performance of the child in school required a hearing evaluation by the specialist  
•       In the case of hearing loss timely diagnosis and consultation by the expert doctor can recover this disability.
