Chandigarh, June 5, 2026: Marking World Environment Day, a tree plantation drive was organized on Friday evening at the park opposite the Verka Booth in Sector 21-D, Chandigarh. The programme saw enthusiastic participation from BJP workers, local residents, and environmental enthusiasts who joined hands to promote a greener and healthier environment.

Senior BJP leader Sanjay Tandon attended the event as the chief guest and planted saplings along with party workers and residents. The programme was organized under the leadership of District President and Councillor Anup Gupta and Mandal 11 President Jatin Nagpal.

Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay Tandon emphasized the importance of environmental conservation and urged citizens to make tree plantation a part of their daily lives.

“Trees are our greatest companions. They provide us with clean air, shade, and countless ecological benefits. On World Environment Day, we must renew our commitment to protecting nature and ensuring a sustainable future for coming generations,” he said.

Tandon further stated that environmental protection is not the responsibility of governments alone but requires active participation from every citizen.

“A single tree planted today can make a significant difference tomorrow. If every individual plants and nurtures even one sapling, we can collectively transform our surroundings and combat environmental challenges,” he added.

District President Anup Gupta said that the tree plantation campaign reflects the party’s commitment to environmental awareness and sustainable development. Mandal President Jatin Nagpal thanked all participants for their support and appealed to residents to care for the saplings planted during the drive.

The event concluded with a pledge by participants to protect the environment and contribute towards making Chandigarh greener and cleaner through sustained plantation and conservation efforts.
