Dharamshala, June 5, 2018: World environment day is celebrated every year on 5th June throughout the globe. The day was also celebration of on 5th June at Dr R.P.Government Medical College Tanda near Dharamshala.

Dr Bhanu Awasthi,Principal of the Medical college said, “This year India is taking a lead in organizing World Environment day events. The theme for this year is ‘Beat plastic pollution’.”

He added that In this regard the institution organized various IEC (information, education and communication) activities in which Doctors ,Students and the staff took part.

Dr Awasthi said, “In Poster making competition for MBBS and Nursing students,100 MBBS students and 30 Nursing students participated in the event.Miss Shairly Sharma & Miss Manu Bharti(GNM) were joint winners. In Bag making competition 100 MBBS students and 30 Nursing students participated . Mr.Sahil Thaur, Mr.Sahil Rana,Mr.Santosh Kumar,Mr.Sanyam Chauhan & Miss Sakshi Negi were the winners. In Campus cleaning (“shram daan”), Different groups of 600 MBBS students, Nursing students and faculty members participated and cleaned the five different sites of the campus of the college and hospital.First prize was won by Batch 2015 of MBBS. And in Debate Miss Charu (Batch-2015) declared first and Mr.Amritansh(Batch-2015) was the runners up”

He further added that Rally for awareness of the general public,around 600 MBBS students, Nursing students and faculty members participated in a rally which was held in the campus of Dr R.P.Govt. Medical College Tanda. Participants were carrying banners, posters and bags for creating IEC among general public in the campus.
