World Diabetes Day to be celebrated in Shimla

Shimla, November 9, 2015: The Himachal Chapter of Research Society for Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI) will celebrate the world diabetes day on 14 November 2015 at Shimla.

President, H.P. RSSDI Dr. Jatinder Kumar Mokta informed here today that this day is celebrated as diabetes day throughout the world by World Health Organization (WHO) to spread awareness about the diabetes in masses. He said Himachal Pradesh Chapter of RSSDI, which had been recently formed was celebrating this day for the first time and this endeavour would go a long way in making people aware about the risk factors of diabetes besides emphasizing upon the importance of prevention and treatment of this chronic disease.

He said a public awareness walk from Oak Over to the Ridge would be organized on the occasion which would be flagged of by Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh at 9 AM. Besides, public awareness speech would be organized in Gaiety Theatre at 10 AM in which eminent endocrinologist Dr. Sanjay Kalra from AIIMS, Delhi would deliver his speech. He urged the people of Shimla to participate in awareness walk and speech for their benefits.

He said a quiz competition on obesity and diabetes had also been planned for school, MBBS and MD students in IGMC auditorium on this occasion.
