On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day 2026, the Department of Immunohaematology and Blood Transfusion (IHBT), DMC&H, organized a voluntary blood donation camp under the theme “One Drop of Humanity. Give Blood. Save Lives.”

World Blood Donor Day 2026 Celebrated at DMC&H

Ludhiana, June 13, 2026: On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day 2026, the Department of Immunohaematology and Blood Transfusion (IHBT), DMC&H, organized a voluntary blood donation camp under the theme “One Drop of Humanity. Give Blood. Save Lives.”
This blood donation camp was organized under the leadership of Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Professor & Head, Department of IHBT, and was coordinated by Dr. Sonia Gupta, Additional Professor, Dr. Deepika Aggarwal, Assistant Professor, along with the dedicated faculty and staff members of the Department of IHBT.
The camp was inaugurated by Deepak Dumra, Member, DMC&H Managing Society; Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society; Mukesh Verma, Treasurer, DMC&H Managing Society; Dr. G.S. Wander, Principal, DMC&H; Dr. Ashwani K. Chaudhary, Medical Superintendent; Dr. Sandeep Sharma, Medical Superintendent; Dr. Ashima Taneja, Additional Medical Superintendent; and Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Professor & Head, Department of IHBT.
The blood donation camp witnessed overwhelming participation from doctors, students, and hospital staff. A total of 345 units of blood were collected during the camp.
In his message, Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, emphasized that blood donation is one of the noblest acts of humanity and a true expression of compassion towards fellow human beings. He encouraged people from all walks of life to become regular voluntary blood donors and contribute towards building a healthier and more compassionate society.
Dr. G.S. Wander, Principal, DMC&H, highlighted the crucial role of blood donation in strengthening healthcare services and ensuring the availability of safe blood for patients. He said that the need for blood remains constant, but its availability depends entirely on selfless donors who come forward to help others.
Dr. Rajesh Kumar, thanked all the faculty members, students, hospital staff, and volunteers for their enthusiastic participation and support in making the camp a grand success. He explained that a single blood donation has the potential to save up to three lives, as different blood components can be used for multiple patients. He urged everyone to donate blood regularly and help ensure an adequate and safe blood supply for patients who depend on timely transfusions for survival.
