Chandigarh, May 5, 2026: To mark World Asthma Day initiative, Livasa Hospital, Mohali is promoting awareness campaigns, patient education sessions, and consultations aimed at improving asthma control and reducing preventable complications.
Dr. Sonal, consultant–pulmonology at Livasa Hospital, Mohali said, “Asthma continues to be a major public health concern, particularly in India, where a significant proportion of global asthma-related deaths are reported. Experts emphasize that while effective treatments exist, timely diagnosis, correct inhaler use, and access to anti-inflammatory medication remain critical gaps.”
While highlighting the importance of early intervention, she said that asthma is manageable if diagnosed early and treated appropriately.
“Patients should not ignore recurring symptoms such as persistent cough, wheezing, or breathlessness. Regular use of controller inhalers, especially inhaled corticosteroids, is essential to prevent flare-ups and long-term lung damage. Education around inhaler technique and adherence is equally important.”
Rising air pollution, indoor allergens, and lifestyle factors are significantly contributing to the increasing burden of asthma, informed Dr. Kritarth, consultant–pulmonology. Management goes beyond medication as it includes trigger control, regular follow-ups, and personalized action plans. Patients must understand that asthma control is a continuous process, not a one-time treatment, he opined.
Through our initiatives, we aim to empower patients with the right knowledge and affordable care solutions, said Anurag Yadav, CEO-Livasa Hospitals.”
