World AIDS Day observed at DMCH

Ludhiana: World AIDS Day was observed today in Dayanand Medical College. The theme of World AIDS Day this year is ‘Global solidarity, shared responsibility’.

According to Secretary Sh Prem Kumar Gupta, the year 2020 got all attention pertaining to COVID pandemic and raising awareness to restrict its further spread. Taking adequate precautions is the best possible safety measure to keep you safe from either from COVID or HIV virus, says Sh Gupta.      

Faculty and Senior Residents from Department of Microbiology conducted programme in clarifying various myths and doubts pertaining to HIV and AIDS.
 
Addressing the audience, Dr Deepinder Chhina (Professor & Head of Microbiology) said that observing World AIDS Day on 1st December every year creates an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV and also  to show support for people living with HIV.
 
After the lecture, a quiz programme on HIV & AIDS was also held to entertain the participating audience and enlighten them with various issues pertaining to HIV & AIDS and preventive measures to keep everyone safe.     

Health Education Cell headed by eminent gastroenterologist Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina lauded the efforts of Microbiology Department in conducting this awareness programme.
