Workshop on optimum utilization of CNC machine

Ludhiana: Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) Ludhiana has been organizing number of Seminars/Workshops for the benefits and up-gradation of the skills of the industry and trade sectors. The role of top management has become extremely critical now days. Therefore, CICU took initiative to organized One day workshop on Optimum Utilization of CNC Machine.

Upkar Singh Ahuja, President, CICU said that in the highly competitive market scenario, customers determine the price of a product and entrepreneurs need to continuously fine tune the costs to realize profits. Machine utilization has a major impact in reducing the manufacturing cost of components. He also said that most CNC machines are underutilized with only 20% time effectively spent in cutting & the rest in non-value adding operations. Although the material cost cannot be reduced, the cycle time and machining cost can be reduced drastically. This one day workshop will help the participants to know their actual problems in machines and resolve their issues.

Pankaj Sharma, General Secretary, CICU said that the objective to organize this workshop to upgrade the need of the machines and enhance their productivity and quality of the products. Cycle times are often impacted due to operator errors, cutting parameters, improper work holding, loading and unloading, improper usage of tools / measuring devices and other components needed during the production run. Systematic machining audit leads to eliminating or reducing non-value-added activities, thereby increasing throughput.

This workshop was organized with the support of ACE Micromatic Group. Praveen Chaudhary, Regional head, Ludhiana and Dhamendra Arora, Manager-New Delhi ACE Micromatic Group were discussed about How to reduce cycle time in CNC machining up to 20%, How to reduce rejection rate in CNC machining, How to bring in cost reduction in machine shop, Applications of Turning and Machining Centre, Tooling selection, Periodic maintenance of machines and Case Studies.
Mukhinder Singh from SECO Chucks, Phagwara also interacted with participants and appreciated the work for industry upgradation being done by the CICU.

Didarjit Singh, Vice President, CICU was also present in the workshop.

The program was highly appreciated by the participants.
