Workshop on Iron Deficiency Anaemia Organised at Panjab University under NITI Aayog Initiative
A workshop-cum-conference on “Addressing Iron Deficiency Anaemia in Chandigarh” was organised at Golden Jubilee Hall under the State Support Mission of NITI Aayog, where Panjab University has been designated as a Lead Knowledge Institution (LKI) for the project “Analysis and Screening of Iron Deficiency Anaemia” under the healthcare theme.
Chandigarh, 19 March 2026: A workshop-cum-conference on “Addressing Iron Deficiency Anaemia in Chandigarh” was organised at Golden Jubilee Hall under the State Support Mission of NITI Aayog, where Panjab University has been designated as a Lead Knowledge Institution (LKI) for the project “Analysis and Screening of Iron Deficiency Anaemia” under the healthcare theme.
The event was inaugurated by Prof. Yojna Rawat, Dean of University Instruction, and Prof. Meenakshi Goyal, Director, Research and Development Cell. Dr Rupinder Kaur, Chief Medical Officer of BGJIH, welcomed the guests and delegates. Prof. Yojna Rawat delivered the keynote address, emphasising the importance of interdisciplinary efforts in tackling anaemia as a major public health concern. Student delegates from various departments of the University attended the workshop.
The workshop featured expert talks providing a comprehensive and multidisciplinary understanding of iron deficiency anaemia. An expert talk was delivered by Dr Arihant Jain, Additional Professor at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, on “Clinical Perspectives on Iron Deficiency Anaemia”, highlighting diagnostic challenges, treatment protocols, and the need for early detection. Dr Vandita Kakkar, Associate Professor at UIPS, delivered a talk on “Role of Pharmacy and Public Health Approaches in Anaemia Management”, highlighting innovations in drug delivery systems and the integration of public health strategies. Mrs Ekta Bajaj concluded the session with a talk on “Nutrition-Based Strategies for Preventing Anaemia and Its Recurrence”, underlining the significance of dietary interventions and awareness in preventing anaemia, particularly among vulnerable groups. The workshop concluded with an interactive session with the delegates.
The workshop-cum-conference served as a valuable platform to spread awareness and promote collaborative efforts in line with the Anaemia Mukt Bharat Mission.
