Workshop on Importance of Quarantine Measures in Import of Planting Material at Nauni

Nauni, November 11, 2021: To create awareness about plant quarantine, The Department of Plant Pathology, Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry Nauni, Solan is organising a One-day Awareness Workshop on the Importance of Quarantine Measures in Import of Planting Material on 12th November. The workshop is being organised under the World bank funded Himachal Pradesh Horticulture Development Project. Dr. Parvinder Kaushal, Vice Chancellor of Dr YS Parmar UHF, Nauni, Solan will be the Chief Guest on the occasion.

Besides scientists of the university, officers from the line departments will be attending the event along with some progressive growers involved in the sale of imported planting material. Noted experts from the country will share their views during the workshop.  Dr Subhash Dhiman, GM, NMS will deliver a talk on ‘Role of elite imported planting material in changing scenario of Horticulture in HP’ while Dr Chalam Vasimalla, Head, Plant Quarantine Division ICAR NBPGR will speak on ‘Importance of Quarantine procedures in the import of planting material’. Dr V K Baranwal, Principal Scientist of Advanced Centre for Plant Virology, Division of Plant Pathology, ICAR- IARI will also deliver a talk on ‘Diagnostics of viruses for certification of Quality planting material of clonally propagated temperate fruit crops’. A discussion session will also be held.
