Students' gathering during workshop on Childhood Obesity being organised at B.C.M. Sr Sec School, Sec 32-A, Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana on Wednesday.
Ludhiana, December 17, 2014: B.C.M. Sr Sec School, Sec 32-A, Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana organised a workshop on ‘Childhood Obesity’ for the students of Middle Section today. Dr Ashish Ahuja (Specialist in Laproscopic Bariatric Surgery), Dr Shveta Batta (Chief Dietician from D.M.C. Hospital), Sushil Arora (Director of Indian Institute of human Excellence & Development) and (Yuva Co-Chair person from YI-Young Indians Ludhiana), Deepak Chaudhry (Working with YI as an executive member) were the resource persons. The main purpose of this workshop was to create awareness about the rising obesity and the problem related to it. Most of the children have spending time on televisions and computers. Due to the lack of activities, they are facing the same problem. Doctors advised the students to take healthy, balanced diet including green leafy vegetables, fibrous fruits and milk with low fats. They instructed that exercise too is essential along with the healthy food. Sushil gave some advisable tips for ‘Stress Management’ to sharpen the memory. He further said that sufficient water should be taken in the early morning to reduce weight.
