Chandigarh, October 28, 2025: The Centre for Police Administration, Panjab University, Chandigarh, today organised a Hands-on Workshop and Special Lecture on “Ballistics and Firearms in Police Administration”.

 

The resource person, Dr. L. S. Rana, delivered an insightful and interactive lecture on the typology of firearms, principles of ballistics, and procedures involved in ballistic examination and firearm-related investigations. He highlighted the growing importance of forensic ballistics in evidence-based policing and crime detection.

 

Earlier, the session began with a welcome address and thematic introduction by Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Chairman, Centre for Police Administration, who emphasised the relevance of understanding ballistics and firearms in effective police investigation and modern criminal justice administration.

 

The workshop witnessed active participation from faculty members — Dr. Sanjeev Ranjan, Dr. Shaveta Begra, and Dr. Satnam Singh — along with 45 students of the Centre. The hands-on session offered participants valuable practical exposure to forensic techniques and enhanced their understanding of scientific applications in policing.
