Work going on war footing for International Kabaddi Tournament 2019

Chandigarh, November 24, 2019: After visiting various districts in regard the International Kabaddi Tournament 2019, the Director of Sports, Mr.Sanjay Popli, has expressed satisfaction over the ongoing work and announced that all the arrangements will be completed well before the time. Informing about the visit of all the districts i.e Kapurthala, Amritsar, Ferozepur, Bathinda, Patiala, Roop Nagar and Gurdaspur, Mr.Popley said that the work is going on war footing for the Kabaddi Tournament and it will be completed before the tournament begins. Mr Popley has visited all the venues and personally inspected the kabaddi grounds. He also held the review meetings with different officers in these districts. Director Sports informed that nine teams are participating in the tournament. To undertake the arrangements of each district, venue committees under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioners of the districts have been formed which are working to complete all the arrangements. Mr Popley said that stadiums are being renovated, repaired, beside, the arrangement of lights and back-up generators. According to Mr Popley, special attention is being paid to the seating area and parking outside the stadiums. He said that as per the wishes of Sports Minister Mr. Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi, this tournament will be made memorable and it will be dedicated to Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji's 550th Prakash Purb. He was accompanied by Deputy Director Sports Mr. Kartar Singh during his visits to all these districts.
