Chandigarh, September 23, 2026: As floodwaters recede, NIIB has opened new opportunities for daughters of affected families. The institute has provided free professional skill-based education to around 1,500 flood-affected female students and announced a ₹5.5-crore scholarship scheme for needy and economically weaker students. Beauty and other professional courses are designed to help them secure employment or start their own ventures.
The announcement was made at NIIB’s 15th annual convocation, where degrees and diplomas were awarded to nearly 1,500 students from more than 30 branches.
Punjab State Women’s Commission Chairperson Raj Lali Gill said women’s empowerment becomes meaningful when women possess skills that enable them to become financially independent. She praised NIIB’s initiative and stressed the importance of practical, employment-oriented education.
NIIB Managing Director and AAP Punjab spokesperson Dr Pooja Singh said education should go beyond certificates and help students build better futures. CEO Eishan Singh urged graduates to use their skills to develop successful careers.
Punjab State Observer Gayatri Bishnoi, Punjab Tourism and Cultural Affairs Adviser Deepak Bali, Punjab Khadi Board Chairman Kaku Aluwalia and Jalandhar Cantonment in-charge Rajwinder Kaur Thiara attended the event. Singer Jyoti Nooran performed, while NIIB students presented cultural programmes.
