Women's Empowerment Essential for National Progress: HIRD Director Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan
Karnal, March 25, 2026: In Indian culture, women have held a position of special honor since ancient times. In our society, women have always been accorded a high status and are revered as symbols of power, knowledge, and prosperity. These remarks were made by Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan, Director of the Haryana Institute of Rural Development, while addressing participants at a three-day district-level training program on the 'Gender Module' organized by the HIRD for Community Level Federation (CLF) members under the Rural Livelihood Mission. District Program Manager Gurmeet Singh welcomed him by presenting a bouquet.
The HIRD Director, Dr. Chauhan said that promoting gender equality under the Rural Livelihood Mission is the paramount need of the hour; for until women and men receive equal opportunities within society, the vision of holistic development will remain incomplete. He noted that CLF members serve as agents of change at the village level, and by embracing gender sensitivity, they can bring about positive transformations within society.
Emphasizing the significance of the mother tongue, Hindi, he asserted that we must prioritize the use of the Hindi language in our daily routines and administrative activities. Underscoring the dignity and importance of women, he added that, recognizing their invaluable contributions, we must provide them with opportunities to excel in every sphere of life.
District Program Manager Gurmeet Singh remarked that such training programs are immensely beneficial for CLF members, enabling them to gain a deeper understanding of gender-related issues, work effectively within their respective domains, and play a pivotal role in disseminating awareness throughout society. Present on the occasion were Trainer Sunita, Block Program Manager Ashish, Cluster Coordinator Manju, Program Moderator Saurabh Arora, Yogesh Kumar, and other dignitaries.
