Ludhiana, March 11, 2024: The Women's Cell of Guru Hargobind Khalsa College in Gurusar Sadhar celebrated International Women's Day in collaboration with the Departments of Psychology and Commerce. 

The event featured Dr. Gurpreet Batra from Cloud Nine Hospital, Ludhiana, as the chief guest, who provided insights into women's health issues, particularly focusing on PCOD. Dr. Jaspreet Kaur Gulati reflected on the historical context of International Women's Day, while Prof. Karamjit Kaur of the Medical Lab Technology Department presented information on cervical cancer.

The program included poster making and speech competitions for students. Angrez Singh secured first place in poster making, followed by Mamta Kumari in second and Reena Kaur Ball in third. Pooja Kumari received an encouragement award. In the speech competition, Harmandeep Kaur, Prabhjot Singh, and Jasmeet Kaur claimed the first, second, and third positions, respectively, with Manjot Kaur and Jaspreet Singh receiving a special prize.

The chief guest, along with the winning students, was honoured by the college principal, Prof. Inderjit Singh, with tokens of appreciation. Dr. Paramjit Kaur, Dr. Anubhuti Modgill, Prof. Vishavpreet Kaur, and others were also present at the event. The focus of the day was on increasing awareness about women's health issues and promoting a proactive approach to addressing them.
