Will not quit Congress party, says former Telangana minister Konda Surekha

Hyderabad, Sep 13 (IANS) Konda Surekha, who was dropped from the Telangana Cabinet early this month for indiscipline, and her husband Konda Murali made it clear on Sunday that they will not leave the Congress party.
They said that positions were never important to them and that they would like to be always remembered by people.
The couple was addressing their supporters in Warangal. This was the first public address since Surekha was dropped from the Cabinet by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
The action was taken against her after the Congress high command took serious note of her reply to the show-cause notice issued by the party after her daughter Konda Sushmitha’s outbursts against the Chief Minister.
Surekha said she was not upset over being removed from the Cabinet but was unhappy over the reason cited for the same.
The MLA voiced concern over what she called politics of opportunism. “From the MPP post, I rose to the position of a minister. Some people switch parties every day,” she remarked, while targeting her rivals.
She recalled that she had quit as the minister for the sake of former Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
Surekha alleged that some people hatched conspiracies to deny her ticket. She said K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) called her to give her the ticket from Warangal East in 2014, and as the TRS candidate she defeated the then minister of the Congress party.
Surekha, who joined the Congress party in 2018 and was elected from the same constituency as the Congress ticket in 2023, stated that because of her victory, people of Warangal East were living peacefully.
She also revealed that some people were planning an agitation over her removal as the minister, but she advised them to abide by the high command’s decision.
Surekha made it clear she will not sit at home for losing the post of minister but would remain amidst people and will win majority seats in the ensuing elections for Warangal Corporation.
