Why is the BJP, which claims credit for every Ram Mandir event, now silent over questions being raised about donations, asks Shubham Sharma

Chandigarh, July 1, 2026: Punjab Youth Congress's newly appointed President, Shubham Sharma, said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has, for years, projected the Ram Mandir as its greatest political achievement before the nation. Whether it was the groundbreaking ceremony, the inauguration, the consecration ceremony (Pran Pratishtha), or any other major event associated with the temple, the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi left no opportunity to claim political credit. However, today, when questions are being raised regarding the donations collected for the Ram Mandir and their utilization, the silence of the BJP and its leaders is giving rise to serious doubts.
Shubham Sharma said that the BJP must decide whether it wishes to claim only the credit for achievements or also accept accountability. Crores of devotees contributed donations out of their unwavering faith in Lord Shri Ram, not for any political party. It is the responsibility of the BJP and the concerned trust to provide transparent and factual answers to every question being raised regarding the utilization of those funds.
He directly challenged senior Punjab BJP leaders, Member of Parliament Tarun Chugh, former State BJP President Ashwani Sharma, and other party leaders to break their silence. If Lord Shri Ram is truly a matter of faith for the BJP, why is it shying away from answering the questions of devotees? Is the name of Lord Shri Ram meant to be used only for seeking votes during elections, while maintaining silence when it comes to answering legitimate questions?
Shubham Sharma further said that Punjab BJP leaders hold press conferences and make lengthy statements on every national issue, but their silence on questions related to the Ram Mandir is deeply surprising. If the BJP is confident that everything has been conducted with complete transparency, then the concerned trust should make the entire account of donations public and provide clear answers to all the questions being raised. Silence only deepens suspicion.
