Rohtak, October 2, 2026: The newly admitted MBBS-2026 batch of Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHSR), Rohtak, took its first formal step into the medical profession at a White Coat Ceremony held at LT-5, PGIMS.
Chief Guest, Vice-Chancellor Dr H.K. Aggarwal said the white coat was not merely a garment but a symbol of responsibility, integrity and service to humanity. He urged students to combine academic excellence with compassion and discipline, reminding them that patient care must remain their foremost duty.
“Medicine is one of the noblest professions. It is not just about earning money, but about earning blessings,” Dr Aggarwal said, urging the students to learn human values alongside medical knowledge.
Registrar Dr Roop Singh said getting admission to MBBS was only the beginning, with the next five years being crucial for shaping students into responsible doctors. He stressed discipline, punctuality, ethics and maintaining a ragging-free campus.
Director PGIMS Dr S.K. Singhal said students would become real doctors through hands-on experience in wards and interaction with patients. The heavy patient load at PGIMS, he added, would provide students with valuable clinical learning opportunities.
The ceremony began with lamp lighting and Saraswati Vandana, followed by the donning of white coats and administration of the medical oath to the freshers. Anatomy Department Head Dr Vivek Malik coordinated the event, while Dr Gopal conducted the proceedings. Dean Academic Dr M.G. Vashishth proposed the vote of thanks.
Senior university officials, department heads, faculty members and a large number of students attended the ceremony.
