Wheat arrival and procurement breaks previous year records in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, May 1, 2023: Wheat arrival and procurement in this ongoing season has surpassed previous year records in Ludhiana. 

As per details available till April 30 this year, a total of 763290 MT wheat has arrived in the grain markets of the district breaking the last year figure which was 680312 MT arrival. Similarly, the 666025 MT wheat has also been procured crossing the last year's record 585879 MT wheat on April 30, 2022.

Reviewing status of procurement, Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik said payments worth Rs 1536 crores had also been cleared by the procurement agencies. She said that the procurement of golden grains had also been picked up momentum and efforts must be made to ensure that each and every procured grain was lifted at the earliest.
Malik said that every agency must ensure that its quota of grains was lifted from the grain market as soon as it arrives in the market. She said that district administration was committed to ensure that farmers do not face any sort of problem while selling their golden harvest in the mandis across the district.
