What Has BJP Given Punjab in 12 Years? Dhaliwal Demands Accountability During Nitin Navin’s Visit

BJP has completely failed to fulfill its promises to farmers, youth, and border areas
Chandigarh, June 20, 2026: Retired IAS officer and MLA Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal launched a sharp attack on BJP National President Nitin Navin over his visit to Punjab, stating that the people of Punjab no longer want speeches from BJP leaders—they want answers. He said that before making political statements in Punjab, the BJP National President should clearly explain what the Central Government has done over the past 12 years for Punjab’s farmers, youth, industrialists, and residents of border areas. The public wants an account of the BJP’s promises and policies, and will demand it in the days ahead.
Dhaliwal said that the BJP had promised to double farmers’ income, but today farmers are struggling with rising input costs, mounting debt, and the lack of fair prices for their crops. He added that the BJP, which attempted to impose its policies on farmers through the three controversial farm laws, has still failed to restore farmers’ trust. The issue of providing a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) remains unresolved.
He further stated that Punjab is a border state, yet the Central Government has not implemented any special plan to strengthen development, security, and infrastructure in areas adjoining the international border. Incidents involving cross-border drones, weapons, and drug smuggling continue to rise, but the Central Government has failed to bring the situation under control.
Dhaliwal said that while the BJP constantly speaks of a “New India,” there is no concrete policy visible for providing employment opportunities to Punjab’s youth. Unemployment is increasing, and thousands of young people are forced to move abroad every year. If the Central Government’s policies are truly successful, then why are Punjab’s youth compelled to leave the country in search of a better future?
He added that Punjab’s problems cannot be solved through repeated visits and meetings by BJP leaders. The people of Punjab need concrete policy decisions, not speeches. The BJP must explain what specific achievements it has delivered for Punjab that have improved the lives of farmers, youth, traders, and ordinary citizens.
