Hungama OTT, one of India’s leading digital entertainment platforms, launched its latest original series, Prayagraj Ki Love Story, on January 8, 2026. Set against the soulful lanes, historic ghats, and timeless charm of Prayagraj, the series flips the idea of a romantic getaway on its head and turns it into a high-stakes survival story. Featuring a talented ensemble cast, including Gaurav Sharma, Ambika Vani, Pavitra Punia, and Manish Wadhwa, the show blends romance with suspense as a young couple finds themselves hunted in a city that suddenly feels unfamiliar.
At the heart of the story are Anshul Singh and Sonia Shukla, whose romantic escape takes a dark and dangerous turn when they unknowingly fall into the trap of a ruthless gang posing as protectors. What begins as trust soon spirals into deception, forcing the couple into a relentless chase through dense forests, narrow alleyways, and crowded marketplaces while trying to stay one step ahead of those determined to catch them. As fear closes in and danger lurks at every corner, their relationship is tested under pressure that allows no room for mistakes.
Talking about his role, Gaurav Sharma, who essays Anshul Singh, said, “Anshul is a sensitive and understanding boy, but he’s also heavily influenced by social media. When things spiral out of control, his instincts take over. What I enjoyed most was showing that transition from comfort to crisis. Shooting across real locations in Prayagraj added honesty to every scene. You feel the chaos, and you feel the fear.”
Speaking about the series, Ambika Vani, who plays Sonia Shukla, shared, “This was my first project, and I couldn’t have asked for a more rewarding start. Sonia begins as someone in love and slowly becomes someone fighting for her life. That shift was emotionally intense. What stayed with me was her resilience. Even when everything is taken away, she doesn’t give up on herself or on love.”
Pavitra Punia, who plays Rajni Singh, shared, “Rajni is a complex character who does not fit into easy definitions. She’s layered, unpredictable, and emotionally driven. Prayagraj Ki Love Story challenged me as an actor, especially with its mix of romance, thrill, and survival. Working with Hungama OTT again felt like a natural creative partnership.”
Veteran actor Manish Wadhwa said, “What sets this series apart is its emotional grounding. The fear feels real, the relationship feels lived in, and no one is purely right or wrong. That moral ambiguity gives the story weight.”
Arvind Babbal, Director and Producer, shared, “As a director, my focus with Prayagraj Ki Love Story was to tell a love story that doesn’t escape reality. I wanted the audience to feel the tension, fear and emotions of two people whose romantic journey suddenly turns into a fight for survival. Every scene is designed to keep viewers emotionally invested in the couple and their choices. Ambika Vani and Gaurav Sharma brought a natural honesty to their performances, which helped ground the story and make the experience immersive for the audience.”
Sharing his views about the series Neeraj Roy, Managing Director, Hungama Digital, said, “Prayagraj Ki Love Story is rooted in a city I come from and understand closely. It reflects relationships as they are often lived - shaped by culture, circumstances and choices that aren’t always easy. The series follows a love story that unfolds amid real pressures and consequences, making it honest and relatable rather than idealized. We hope audiences connect with its authenticity and see familiar emotions and realities reflected on screen.”
