Western Command organises Punjab State Ex-Servicemen Rally

Ludhiana, November 1, 2026: Vajra Corps, under the aegis of Western Command, organised a mega Punjab State Ex-Servicemen Rally at Dholewal Military Complex, Ludhiana. The Rally, themed ‘Sampark, Sanjeevani, Rojgar aur Sahuliyat’, brought together veterans, Veer Naris, Veer Matas and families from across Punjab on a common platform to provide comprehensive welfare assistance under one roof.
Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh, AVSM, SM**, Army Commander, Western Command, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He felicitated distinguished veterans and interacted with Veer Naris and dependants.
Addressing the gathering, the Army Commander reaffirmed the Army’s unwavering, lifelong commitment to its veterans. Saluting Punjab’s glorious martial legacy, he said that Western Command shares an inseparable bond with Punjab and its people. Describing Ex-Servicemen as custodians of heritage, conscience keepers of society and invaluable partners in Nation-building, he emphasised that their discipline, integrity and spirit of service continue to guide the Nation long after they hang up their uniform. He assured accessible welfare, timely resolution of grievances and sustained, compassionate care for Veer Naris and families. In a special message to the youth of Punjab, he urged them to reject the menace of drugs and embrace a life of discipline, physical fitness and national service.
A major highlight of the rally was the establishment of four dedicated Seva Shivirs to address the diverse needs of the veteran community under one roof: Sampark Shivir.  One-stop facilitation with Record Offices, Zila Sainik Boards and Army Welfare Placement Organisation (AWPO) for pension, documentation and entitlements.
Sanjeevani Shivir. Specialist medical consultations, health check-ups, medicines and assistance related to ECHS by teams from Military Hospitals and civil healthcare institutions.
Rojgar Shivir. Second-career guidance, skill development counselling and employment opportunities in partnership with industry, MSMEs and resettlement agencies.
Sahuliyat Shivir. Assistance from civil administration, police, banks and Aadhaar agencies for ease of living.
More than a welfare camp, the rally was an emotional reunion - a homecoming for old comrades to relive shared memories, for families to bond, and for the larger military fraternity to celebrate its unbreakable spirit. Cultural performances added colour and warmth to the solemn occasion.
Western Command remains steadfast in its resolve that every veteran, Veer Nari and military family receives the respect, dignity, care and support they so richly deserve.
