West Bengal's Raihana, Khushi from Noida and Ramika from UK honoured with Best Selfie with Daughter Award

Girls and their parents from 17 states including Maharashtra, Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh participated in the state level function organized at MDU on the completion of ten years of “Selfie with Daughter” campaign.

Rohtak, June 9, 2025: Girls and their parents from 17 states including Maharashtra, Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh participated in the state level function organized at MDU on the completion of ten years of “Selfie with Daughter” campaign.

 

Dr. Sharanjit Kaur, Chairperson of Indian Rehabilitation Council, participated as the chief guest in this program organized by the MDU’s University Outreach Program, Dean Student Welfare Office, Women Study Center and Selfie with Daughter Foundation. The function was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajbir Singh.

 

The "Selfie with Daughter Panchayat Award" was given to the Panchayat of Gotegaon Kheda in Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh. Gotegaon Kheda's Panchayat has won this honor by defeating a total of 27 Panchayats. RCI Chairperson Dr. Sharanjit Kaur and Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajbir Singh along with other guests honored Gotegaon Kheda's Sarpanch Priyanka. Sarpanch Priyanka uploaded the photo of every girl born in the village on the Selfie with Daughter portal. She has implemented many women-friendly schemes in the village.

 

In this program dedicated to preventing female foeticide and stop abuse at home campaign, Sunil Jaglan announced that during the 11th year, the campaign to stop female foeticide and stop abuse at home will be accelerated in different states of the country. Selfie with Daughter campaign promoted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was started on 9 June 2015 from Jind district of Haryana.

 

Best Selfie of the Year award has been given to Khushi d/o Sheetal of Noida. Her mother raised Khushi on her own and made her a successful woman entrepreneur. Single mother child Khushi has been working with Selfie with Daughter for two years. Raihana of West Bengal, who received the Best Selfie of the Year award, has started a campaign in her own house to stop her father from abusing. Her parents used to abuse even in conversation. Raihana told that this is a mental illness. Now, her father has 60 percent control over his abuses. The third winner of the award is Ramika d/o Sunita, originally from Delhi and now living in England, who is the director of National Youth Art Trust, UK; and works in the social, economic and educational sector. She is promoting Selfie with Daughter in England.

 

Chief Guest, Dr. Sharanjit Kaur said that this campaign has given a new identity to disabled girls by making them a part of it. Presiding over the program, Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajbir Singh said that the more women are empowered, the more empowered the society will become. He said that along with education, this program will also be promoted at the university level. Girls will be connected to this campaign during admission in the university itself.

 

Distinguished Guest, Ransh Kia's MD, Preeti Bansal said that the society should work towards the progress of daughters as well as daughters-in-law. She shared the example of her father-in-law, social worker Rajendra Bansal encouraging her at every step. She said that Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao is not just a slogan but is the responsibility of every citizen. Registrar Dr. Krishnakant moved the audience by reciting a poem composed by himself.

 

Director of University Outreach Program Prof. Anju Dhiman gave the welcome speech. Director of Women's Studies Center Prof. Shalini Singh shared the outline of the program. Chairman of Selfie with Daughter Foundation Sunil Jaglan gave details of the journey of completion of ten years of Selfie with Daughter campaign. Chief Consultant, University Outreach Program Prof. Rajkumar expressed gratitude. During this, Divyang Rhythm, BDPO Monika, former Sarpanch Sujata of Sevagram of Maharashtra, Sonia of Haryana, Sarpanch Rohit Tiwari of Dewas village of Madhya Pradesh and Anjum Islam of Mewat shared their life stories.
