Weeklong Orientation Programme at UIET, PU
Chandigarh, August 8, 2018: University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Panjab University, Chandigarh conducted inaugural session of the Orientation Programme for its newly admitted students today in the Law Auditorium. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Raj Kumar, encouraged the students to become successful entrepreneurs and create jobs rather than looking for jobs. He also stressed upon the holistic development of students so that they can contribute positively towards the society and nation. He emphasized the need to inculcate strong human values. The Director, UIET, Prof. Savita Gupta apprised the students about the infrastructure and other facilities available in UIET. She highlighted the achievements of UIET students and faculty and motivated the students to innovate and strive higher. This inaugural orientation session was a part of seven days long Induction Programme, wherein students were sensitized towards exploring their academic interests and activities, making them work hard for excellence, promoting bonding with their peers, building relations between teachers and students, and building of character etc. They were apprised about library facilities, various curricular, co-curricular opportunities through clubs, chapters like EDC, SAE, IEEE, JAGAAD, BPC etc. available in the institute for their holistic development. The 'Osmium' Dramatics Club and 'Inertia' Rock Band of the institute performed at the occasion. Sessions on life skills, meditation, yoga, games, and visits to various departments are scheduled in the coming days to acclimatize students right from the beginning.
