A webinar on “Life of a person with disability: Social and Professional Opportunities” being held.

Chandigarh: Equal Opportunity Cell for Persons with Disability, Panjab University, Chandigarh  in collaboration with Social Substance organized  a Webinar  on  “Life of a person with disability: Social and Professional Opportunities" by Ms Sukhdev Kaur Saini, Child Development Project officer cum Protection Officer, Chandigarh, today.

Ms Sukhdev Kaur Saini, an Alumni of PU sensitized the participants by sharing her Inspirational  life journey. She covered the different Government  schemes and programs directly aimed for the upliftment, rehabilitation and empowerment of persons with disabilities. She discussed in detail the different services extended by her Social Welfare department like Petrol and diesel subsidy to disabled persons ( 40 litre), assistance to Handicapped persons for purchase of aids and appliances, unemployment allowance to disabled persons, disbursement of Loan to persons with disabilities, etc.

Professor Raj Kumar,Vice Chancellor in his address urged everyone to encourage and accept differently abled persons who  are no less than any of us. He further added that for a better future, we must try to mitigate the discriminating culture and promote disability awareness through platforms, such as this webinar, for each and every individual, so that the foundation of empathy gets stronger and helps in breaking social barriers.

Earlier, Dr Neelima Dhingra ,Co Coordinator along with Dr Ramesh Kataria,  Coordinator EoC-PwD, Panjab University , extended a cordial welcome to all the participants and  distinguished guests

Dr Ramesh Kataria gave an overview of the cell and different activities held till date.

Mr Arun Bansal from Social substance concluded the session with vote of thanks.
