Webinar on ‘Contemporary Art Practices and the Challenges in Art Historical Research’ 

Chandigarh, August 25, 2022: A webinar on ‘Contemporary Art Practices and the Challenges in Art Historical Research’ by Professor Pradosh Mishra from Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi was organised by the University School of Open Learning, The Department of Art History and Visual Arts and Dr. Ambedkar Centre for Socio-Economic Studies for the Weaker Sections of Society, Panjab University on today. Professor Mishra underlined the methodological pluralism that is needed for the study of contemporary art practices that at times are ephemeral. He elaborated on practice based research methodologies, highlighting the trans disciplinarity of art historical studies. His lecture was followed by a question answer session in which students engaged with the speaker on the various issues he had raised. The engaging and illuminating talk was of great benefit to research scholars as it brought practical approaches in contemporary studies to them.
