Webinar on 400th prakash purab of Guru Tegh Bahadur 

Chandigarh: The Department of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies organised a webinar on the 400th Prakash Purab of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji who was the 9th   Guru of Sikh Guru Tradition today.
 The main theme of the webinar was Contribution of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji to Indian society and culture. The webinar which was attended by a galaxy of over 100 Scholars from the world over, was inaugurated by Prof R.K Singla, DUI, Panjab University.
The key note was presented by Dr Sarabjinder Singh, Head Department of Guru Granth Sahib Studies, Punjabi University, Patiala. He expressed his views that Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was a symbol of great selflessness as he had given his life’s sacrifice to protect the interest of religions of other people and to give them freedom to practice their religions freely without any fear.
He expressed that sikh gurus had united Hindustan which was divided into various castes, religions and sects. He focused that martyrdom of Guru Tegh bahadur Ji was given to protect the human rights and dignity of Indians.   
Prof. Satish Kumar Verma from Panjabi University Patiala said that had Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji not sacrificed his life for the sake of others during Mughal period, then the fate of India would have been different.
Dr Sarabjit Singh, Professor from Department Punjabi, P.U also expressed his views on Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji Bani.
Dr Paramvir Singh, Head of Encyloepedia of Sikhism, Punjabi University, Patiala expressed his views on Guru Tegh Bahadur’s Ji life and Bani. 
Dr S.S Gill, former Vice Chancellor of Baba Farid Health Science University, Faridkot said that Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was saviour of human rights.
The webinar was presided by Dr. Jaspal Singh, Member Minority Commission Govt. India and former Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University Patiala, he laid stress on the difference between ‘bali’ and ‘shahadat’. He also expressed that Sikh gurus had given distinctive meaning to the tradition of martyrdom. 

Dr Karamjeet Singh, Registrar extended his thanks to all the dignaritiies and Dr. Jaspal Kaur Kaang, Professor of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies for the well organized webinar. Prof Jaspal Kaur Kaang concluded by saying that Panjab University has taken lead in organizing webinar on the 400th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur.
