Webinar magic of mountains on canvas held

Jalandhar: The Department of Fine Arts of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar organised a webinar Magic of Mountains on Canvas by Him Chatterjee who is Professor and Chairman in Department of Visual Arts at H.P University, Shimla and is well known for his master strokes with brushes and colours.
Principal Dr. Sucharita Sharma expressed her immense pleasure to have him as the students are going to learn something new and unique from the expert himself. She also asked if there is an image in his mind even before starting the painting. To which he replied in negation and put forth the moment canvas comes before him, automatically his hands and brushes move though he had to focus on the choice of colours.
He also shared with the audience that in 2008, he came forth an Art gallery and there are nearly more than 100 ancient painting which he had preserved very dearly. All the faculty members expressed their desire to see this Art gallery in future when the crisis of COVID-19 gets over.
Students too put forth many question before Mr. Chatterjee like- does he paint mountains only, what is Public Art, about his inspiration, why only mountains and not anything else, his quarantine period etc.
He patiently and satisfactorily answered these questions. He said he got the inspiration from his father and it’s not just mountains but all the other things as well which he paints. He told the students that the sculptures in temples which we see come under the category of Public Art which remains alive even after the death of artist. He also added that the lockdown has come as blessing in disguise for him as everyday he has painted something or the other on canvas.
