Wagle Ki Duniya’s unique take on Women’s Day

Sony SAB’s Wagle Ki Duniya continues to win hearts across the nation with its relatable and slice of life narratives catering to three different generations. The show does not shy away from shedding light on important matters that are often left unspoken. To celebrate Women’s Day, the show reflected on a more realistic representation of the kind of work women are entrusted with and how gracefully they complete them. After being caught undermining their wives’ contribution in the household, the women of Sai Darshan Heights Society decide to make their husbands realise their worth in a rather unique way. Vandana (Pariva Pranati) challenges Rajesh (Sumeet Raghavan) to dress up as a woman for a day and do all their daily chores to better understand their struggles in everyday lives.

Sumeet Raghavan essaying the role of Rajesh Wagle said, “It was fun shooting for the Women’s Day track and dressing up like a woman. The idea was to make a point that whatever a woman goes through in a day is really difficult and we, as men, can't match up so I have a lot of respect for women. I feel that there should be equality in the household and both men and women should walk hand in hand. It was not very challenging for me because I’ve played a woman in a lot of my past shows. It is rather more important for the perspective of men to change in society, and it should start from a young age. We should teach our boys to respect girls and then slowly take it further. On the occasion of Women’s Day, I would like for harmony to prevail between men and women, and we should understand each other's problems and I suppose it will help us as a society.”

In our daily lives, women are often undermined and their relentless work in the household goes unnoticed. Wagle Ki Duniya, in a heartfelt manner picked on this issue to propagate the idea that if men were to take on women's chores, they wouldn't even survive a day. The women of Wagle Ki Duniya wanted to teach the men a lesson and chose a rather unique way to accomplish it.
