Hyderabad: Vocal Recital as a Tribute to the Legend Late Ustaad Amirkhan held here in the city on Saturday night at Chaorah, Our Space in Secunderabad.

Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan was a Hindustani Classical Vocalist from the Patiala Gharana.  He is known and referred as the  Tansenof 20th Century.  He was one of the greatest classical vocalists of India who breathed last in the year 1968.  Somany years of his demise, he is still remembered and revered.

 

Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan (April 2, 1902 - April 25, 1968) was a Hindustani classical vocalist from the Patiala Gharana. Often referred to as the 'Tansen' of 20th century, Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan was one of the greatest classical vocalists of India.

 

Singers Ms Sanhita Nandi and Karthika Anagha enthralled 150 plus classical music lovers.

 

Karthika Anagha sang in Bihag, Hamsadhwani, Hamsanandi and Marathi Abhang Ragas and Sanhita Nandi sang in  Shudh Kalyan Malkauns and one light Classical in Khammaj

 

Karthika Anagha is a Carnatic classical vocalist and a recipient of the Bal Shree Award- a national award given by the President of India for children excelling in creative fields.

 

Sanhita Nandi is a prominent Hindustani classical vocalist of the Kirana Gharana.

 

These two artists were accompanied by Rahul Deshpande on Harmonium, Harijit Singh on Tabla, Kolanka Sai on Violin and Karra Srinivas on Mridangam.

 

It was organsied by Surmandal and ICCR.  The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) is an autonomous organisation of the Government of India, involved in India’s external cultural relations, through cultural exchange with other countries and their peoples. And Hyderabad based  Surmandal is a 50years old organization in the service of the music and is celebrating Golden Jubilee year.

 

This concert was organsied by ICCR and Surmandal in their series of tributes to the Legends in association with ‘Our Sacred Space’

 

Mr Chandravadan,Retd IAS, Dr Kundra, of Autism ashram and Aradhana Karhade sastry eminent singer attended.

 

The gathering stood for a minute silence to pay their respects to  Disha, Nirbhaya,Unnao and Kathva, the dauthters of India, who died untimely due to sexual assault, rape and crime.

 

Mohan Hemmadi who spoke on the ocasation quoting late legned Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan saying " jiske Ghar main sangeet hai wahan Aatankwad nahi ho sakta'"

 

Around 150 classical music lovers attended the concert.
