Amaravati, August 29, 2026: The VIT-AP School of Law, VIT-AP University, marked the commencement of the new academic year with a vibrant Freshers Orientation program held today, welcoming the incoming batch of law students. The event set an academic and professional tone, featuring distinguished speakers from the university leadership and the judiciary.
The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. P. Arulmozhivarman, Vice-Chancellor, VIT-AP University, who delivered the Inaugural Address. The Vice-Chancellor outlined the university's vision for the School of Law, emphasizing the importance of rigorous academics, research, and ethical practice in shaping the legal professionals of tomorrow.
The highlight of the orientation was the keynote address delivered by the esteemed Chief Guest, Judge B.S.V Himabindu, Member Secretary (District and Session Judge), AP State Legal Service Authority (APSLSA).
In her insightful address, Judge B.S.V Himabindu provided the budding legal minds with a profound understanding of the practical and social dimensions of law. She elaborated on the critical role of legal services and legal aid in ensuring justice for the underprivileged. Her address covered the importance of constitutional law as the Grundnorm of society, and the significance of Lok Adalats as an effective mechanism for alternative dispute resolution. She advised law students to be technologically and constitutionally aligned. She further underscored the growing relevance of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms in the modern legal landscape. She encouraged students to have a nexus with society through inter-disciplinary areas of learning.
The event served as an excellent platform for first-year students to gain perspective on the legal profession’s responsibilities and the diverse avenues available to make a meaningful impact in society.
